The Company

Are you looking for healthy, vigorous and uniformly sorted plants that are delivered strictly according to agreement? Then Plant Nursery de Kemp is the right place for you! It is no coincidence that we have more than 50 years of experience in this industry.

Plant Nursery de Kemp specialises in the propagation and growing of all types of strawberry plants. All our strawberry plants are grown in the Netherlands under the Elite quality mark. This quality mark forms the basis, when it comes to origin, varietal purity and health. Our asparagus plants are under the control of NAK-Tuinbouw. Quality guaranteed, every day and for more than 60 years!

History

More than 60 years ago, my parents Wim and Mien Litjens started the business De Kemp. Initially, they grew strawberries and apples. Soon there was a demand for good planting material and so the propagation of strawberry plants was taken up.

Strawberry production was stopped after a few years. A few years later, the cultivation of asparagus plants was added. At first, the plants were sold mainly in the Netherlands, but soon my father crossed the border to sell strawberry and asparagus plants in Germany, Belgium and France as well.

In 1995, I completed my studies and joined the company. For the first few years, I was mainly involved in growing and selling the plants. By then, the main activities had grown to such an extent that we stopped producing apples. My father and mother gradually handed over most of the tasks to me and to my partner, Esther Keijsers, from 2001 onwards, so that I took over the business completely at the end of 2003.

After more than 60 years since my parents founded the company, it has grown into one of the leading companies in the propagation and growing of strawberry and asparagus plants in Europe. Currently, we employ 40 permanent staff and a large number of seasonal employees work at our company during the various harvest periods. All this to ensure good quality and to be decisive at times when it is crucial.

Convince yourself of the quality, health and uniformity of our planting material.

Why plant nursery de Kemp?

'Quality is our passion!' We stand for: Reliable, Flexible, a Commitment is a Commitment

Health

We grow our own PB plants (highest class in Elite system) and also grow BM1 plants on a large scale in aphid-free greenhouses. This has allowed us to propagate healthy strawberry plants for quite some time.

Vitality

In cultivation, the plants must not lack anything. This also applies during the process from harvesting to delivery. Besides precise cultivation, we also ensure a closed cold chain, fast processing and good storage of the plants.

Uniformity

Through proper instruction and control by our qualified staff, we ensure tight and uniform grading of our plants. By doing so, we lay the foundation for a uniform batch. To grow uniform production plants, you must also use uniform plant material.

Productivity

By ensuring sophisticated fertilisation, registration of growth parameters combined with information from our own flower research, we grow plants for you with high production potential and the desired spread.

Delivery and transport

A commitment is a commitment

Delivering vital plants, that’s what it’s all about at Plantenkwekerij de Kemp. One of our credos – a commitment is a commitmen – is of paramount importance here. Clear agreements before delivery, so that both parties know what to expect, that too is Plantenkwekerij de Kemp.

Contact Plantenkwekerij de Kemp 5 working days before the desired delivery date. During those 5 days, we will harvest and sort the plants and organise transport so that the plants are delivered to you on time.

If you cannot plant immediately on the agreed delivery date, there is the possibility of postponing the delivery by a few days. The plants can then be kept in our cold store for as long as necessary to ensure that they are delivered to you fresh and vital.
