Elvira
Cultivation rights: 1977.
Cultivator: Institute for Propagation of horticulture plants in Wageningen, 1967.
Gained out of a cross between Gorella and Vola.
Introduced in 1977 tradable under license.
During different tests, Elvira seemed to grow at it’s best beneath plastic or flat glass.
Growth: Moderate, open type of plant with rather short leaf steels.
Flowering: Middle late with rather big leafs and well developed anthers.
Productivity: Very high
Fruit quality: Big, uniform, keel shaped gleaming red fruit with rather sank yellow and red seeds. The fruit is strong, not vulnerable, juicy and tastes pretty good.
Diseases and damages: Prone to mildew, slightly prone to red root rot, little vulnerable for susceptible to wilt. Especially beneath flat glass or plastic, the open and low plants, improves the harvesting efficiency.
