The asparagus crowns are grown on maiden sandy soils. Most fields are hired one year before to start preparation before sowing the seeds in spring the following year.

The seeds are put in the soil with specialized machine that put the seed on ther right depht and in the correct distance from each other. Weedcontrol is partly done by chemicals but also a lot by hand. This to harm the plants as less as possible. The plants are protected for insects and fungus with chemicals. The neccessary protection is done on carefully pllanned moments with sophisticated machines.

The production of the crowns is under contstant inspection of the NAK-Tuinbouw. The fields are visited and inspected several times a year and also during harvest, grading and delivery of the plants several inspections take place.

We harvest the plants with special machines which harvest the plants without damage. Between harvest and delivery the plants are always kept under optimal conditions. 

The plants are graded on weight, root- and spearbudquantity. During grading the graders are under constant control of our quality-kontrollers.
